After being exposed to an alien fuel source whilst issuing eviction notices to the residents of District 9 (a slum housing 1.8 million stranded extra-terrestrials), a newly promoted MNU agent becomes genetically modified, slowly turning into a “prawn”, and finds his friends becoming his enemies, and his enemies becoming his friends, as he races in search of a cure, in Blomkamp’s fun, imaginative, and (relatively) intelligent sci-fi thriller.
