Though more focused than the first part, this second part of Richet’s two-part biopic of notorious French gangster Jacques Mesrine is less compelling than its predecessor, and only ever sporadically entertaining, with its action scenes more generic-feeling, and the first film’s human drama all but dried-up – but the performances are still generally fine, and the production values good.
